We have been planting Fig trees- Figueira and my favourite fruit of all Mulberry- Amoreira árvore. They are of the same family Moraceae and love hot sun and heavy clay soils. So we should be good with those two!
The Centre continues to be worked on, the inside is making more sense! Today the windows are being fitted and so it is possible that we will be in by the weekend... We are borrowing a generator which means all sorts of basic living will change again! Obtaining electricity has been a very long haul and at times I have been happy to not have it. But it will be useful for many aspects of what we want to do. So when the powers that be said yes last week, it felt good. I paid a hefty amount and now we wait again. It could be at least a month, some have said not till April... We shall see... One of the biggest reasons we need power is because Ceratonia was given a very generous gift of a borehole. Only thing is without electricity we can not get the water up!!
The gardens are being planted with drought resistance in mind, however every plant needs some water to start. Some even need water for a few years and then can go long periods without. So without flowing water the gardens are taking a bit longer to really get started. However everyday something is planted, like yesterday, I sowed some Wisteria-Glicínias seeds. The flower essence of which helps us to connect with our femininity.
The most exciting aspect of everything, is watching all the plants grow as each day passes. A quick glance and one may not see the tiny changes. But they are there and they give me great hope.
We aim to get some pictures to you soon, including some with people in them!!
In the meantime we wish everyone a very peaceful Solstice.
