Spending the day with a wonderful Herb
This year at Ceratonia herbal classes will mainly focus on spending the day with one herb learning about growing, harvest times, medicine making, therapeutics, folklore, spending time with the plant and making some preparations.
Taking a mind body spirit approach.
For all plant lovers who want to develop their understanding of the healing qualities of Herbs.
We will spend our time with one herb, working with different techniques including a tea tasting, connecting with the growing plant and discovering the different ways a plant can provide medicine and support.
Gaining a deeper knowledge of the plants around us by working with all our senses.
When you take time to be with a plant some form of journey takes place, an expansion of our consciousness. When you bring your awareness to your actual process if it be tasting a herb or being with the growing plant, something is happening between you and the plant.
Best way to connect with a plant: It is important to take a moment. Notice your breath, mindful of your physical and emotional being. Connect with the ground beneath your feet, energetically cleanse and Let go of thoughts that take you away from the process.
Trust in the Peace that is always within you.
Sometimes the vibration is so strong that it doesn’t matter where you are at, the plant gets your attention!
This journey helps us to make connections to what we already know and deepens our knowledge and understanding of the plant and ourselves.

Welcome to The Astro Club
Experiential Astrology - Astro Club
This second series of Experiential Astrology workshops is designed to be a deeper exploration of the language and philosophy of Astrology.
Dates for your diary 18th February, 18th March,
27th May, 8th July, 30th September
21st October & 25th November
11h00-16h00
Cost for the day €40
Bring your own lunch.
In session one, Saturday 18th February, we will focus on the construction of a Birth Chart or Horoscope and you will need to bring the following materials :-
- Fine line biros/ gel pens in black; red; blue and green
- Medium felt tip pens in red; green; yellow; blue and orange
- A 30cm ruler
- Keeping these materials together for Astrology use only is recommended as it helps to create a ritual/ sacred space around Horoscope creation.
- The Angles of the Chart - These four points are what anchor the individual into her personal reality and, as Howard Sasportas puts it so beautifully in his book The Twelve Houses - “….a person’s reality springs outward from his or her inner landscape of thoughts, feelings, expectations and beliefs”. The Angles of the Chart form the cross of matter that connects us to our little portion of the cosmos. They form the basis for the divisions in time and space that make up the 12 houses of the chart and describe our personal life experiences.
- Aspects - (based on the division of the 360 deg circle of the zodiac) between natal planets - are the energies involved harmonious or is there a conflict between them? Degrees of aspects - how close is close enough? Patterns of aspects - T-Square, Grand Trine, Yod, etc.
- Transits - a moving planet coming into aspect with a natal planet or with one of the Chart’s Angles . A planet moving through a particular house will reveal the type of experience that is coming into focus and where you are likely to meet the energy of the planet involved.
- Transpersonal/Outer planets - Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are, as we know, slow moving planets whose effects are mostly generational. However, when any of the transpersonals makes a close aspect to a personal planet ( Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus or Mars) then some kind of integration is required. It is as though certain individuals are required to express something on behalf of the collective. By transit these planets indicate opportunities for personal growth and may be quite stressful.
- Chart interpretation - Looking for Patterns. Each ingredient of a Birth Chart - planets, signs, houses, aspects, must be seen as part of a whole and in this session we will explore ways of synthesising the component parts in order to gain a sense of the overall meaning. Usually any major theme in the chart will be repeated in different ways. Intuition plays a big part in Chart interpretation and the Astrologer needs to trust their instincts over any ‘rules’. The most vital ingredient in any interpretation is, of course, the client or owner of the chart.
Shelagh first became fascinated by Astrology after having her Birth Chart interpreted over 40 years ago. She was fortunate enough to study with some of the greatest Astrologers of our age. She set up an Astrological Consultancy called Signs of Life and deepened her understanding through hundreds of clients and charts. At the same time she underwent seven years of therapy as part of her training as a counsellor.
Shelagh truly believes that Astrology provides us with one of the best ways to connect with our inner selves and help to make sense of our lives and our place in the cosmos.
Daisy the herbalist is in total agreement of this and working with astrological charts in the herbal clinic has been an excellent rescource.
